Does the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro in Canada still have physical SIM card slots? The answer once again is yes.
Back when Apple launched the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, the company eliminated the physical SIM card tray in the USA, to focus on eSIM. But at the time, all iPhone 14 series models retained the physical SIM tray in Canada, as did last year’s iPhone 15 series models.
The physical SIM tray remains in Canada with the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. Why? Likely because while Rogers, Telus and Bell support eSIMs, it seems we’re not quite ready to ditch the physical SIM card slot. Come on, this is Canada—things happen slowly.
Once again, taking a look at the marketing images on Apple.ca, you can see the physical SIM card slot on images of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, as it’s pretty obvious.
You can pre-order the iPhone 16 series lineup this Friday, September 13 at 5am PDT/8am EDT. They will launch one week later on September 20, 2024.
