Alia Bhatt’s Jigra Secures Massive Rs 90 Crore Deal, Recovers Full Budget Even Before Film’s Release – Know How!
Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film Jigra is creating a buzz even before hitting the big screens. Scheduled for release on October 11, 2024, the film is already making headlines for recovering its entire budget ahead of its theatrical debut. Jigra Recovers Its Rs 90 Cr Budget From Non-Theatrical Deals Even Before Its Release
Jigra was produced on a budget of Rs 80 crore, with an additional Rs 10 crore allocated for print and publicity. Despite its release being weeks away, the film has already secured a staggering Rs 90 crore through the sale of its digital and satellite rights, ensuring that every rupee earned from box office sales and music rights will be pure profit for Dharma Productions.
According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, Karan Johar‘s sharp business sense was key in securing these big deals.
“Karan Johar has a business mind like no one else, and Jigra is an example. He has made a rather multiplex-urban film, and fetched record deals for the genre using all his might and goodwill,” a source revealed.
The film’s digital rights were snapped up by Netflix for a hefty Rs 70 crore, thanks to the success of previous projects like Monica O My Darling and Alia Bhatt’s Darlings, both of which performed well on the platform. Additionally, the film fetched another Rs 20 crore from its satellite rights, rounding off the impressive Rs 90 crore figure.
When Will Jigra Release On Netflix?
As for when fans can expect to stream the film, Jigra is likely to land on Netflix in early 2025, after its theatrical run. The usual window between theatrical and OTT releases is around 80 to 85 days, but no official date has been confirmed.
