Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth is one of Netflix’s biggest movies of all time, so it’s no surprise that we’re getting a sequel. Hemsworth will be returning for Extraction 2, which is coming very soon.
The 2020 movie directed by Sam Hargrave (Hargrave will return to direct the sequel) with a story by Anthony and Joe Russo became an instant success when it debuted on the streaming service. The Russo Brothers appear to have a good track record re-teaming with Marvel stars for new projects since The Gray Man, which stars Chris Evans, also did well well on the platform.

Extraction 2 synopsis
The streamer also shared the official logline along with the release date, and it sounds like another epic story:
Chris Hemsworth returns as Tyler Rake in Extraction 2, the sequel to Netflix’s blockbuster action film Extraction. After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
In the first movie, Tyler Rake (Hemsworth) is hired to save Ovi (Rudhraksh Jaiswal) after he was kidnapped. While the mission goes south on many occasions, Tyler eventually saves Ovi’s life.
At the end of the first movie, Tyler succumbs to his injuries and falls into the river after Ovi crosses the bridge to safety. It looks like Tyler has died, but at least he did right by Ovi. Well, the speculation that Tyler is actually alive quickly begins when a mysterious figure approaches Ovi at the end of the movie.
Obviously, we know Tyler is alive now with Extraction 2 officially coming to Netflix on June 16.
Extraction 2 trailer
Watch the official trailer (and teaser trailers) for Extraction 2:
On April 3, Netflix unveiled the first official extended look at the upcoming sequel with the two-minute-long teaser trailer. The official clip shows Chris Hemsworth back in action as Tyler Rake and hints at an explosive and game-changing new movie. Take a look at the new teaser trailer for Extraction 2 in the video below!
Ahead of the release of the official trailer and teaser trailer, Netflix released a teaser at the 2021 Tudum event over a year ago.
Joe Russo previously revealed that the sequel “has a different color schematic. It’s set in a different part of the world. It has a different pace, a different tone than the first one. And that, to us, is an interesting way to approach serializing a story, is that it’s more surprising and unexpected, and you’re not going to get the exact same movie that you got the last time out.”
