Game of Thrones spinoff A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms unsheathes its sword in first footage
In the big Max coming attractions sizzle reel that dropped on Sunday night, sandwiched between promos for IT: Welcome to Derry and the new season of The Last of Us, sits your first live action look at A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the Game of Thrones spinoff premiering next year.
In the clip, Peter Claffey introduces himself as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall.
Based on the events of George R.R. Martin’s series of Dunk and Egg novellas, season one of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms adapts he first of these, “The Hedge Knight,” to be followed by adaptations of “The Sworn Sword” and “The Mystery Knight.”
Dunk is a former squire who dons his recently deceased knight’s armor, declares himself a knight, and haphazardly enters a tourney, leading to all sorts of shenanigans.
Set a century before the original Game of Thrones series, but after the events of House of the Dragon, Dunk and Egg concerns the “small folk who suffer at the hands of the game of thrones as it’s played by the nobles,” Ryan Condal, House of the Dragon co-creator and one of the spinoff’s executive producers, previously told Entertainment Weekly.
Egg, the future King Aegon V Targaryen, will be played by Dexter Sol Ansell, while Finn Bennett will play Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel will play Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford will play Tanselle, Daniel Ings will play Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell will play Maekar Targaryen.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms premieres on HBO in 2025. Check out the promo below:
