Johnny Depp shares unusual ‘rules’ Amber Heard set for him when he returned home

Johnny Depp has claimed that Amber Heard had “rules of routine” which he was expected to follow on a daily basis.

The actor, 58, told the court his recollection of a handful of incidents which he believed upset Ms Heard, 35, due to them being out of their usual routine.

Depp had previously told the court in Fairfax, Virginia that their relationship seemed “too good to be true” at the start and confessed he gradually began to notice unusual things.

One of which was an evening he returned home from work and took his own boots off, which he said “visibly upset” Ms Heard.

As recounted by Law & Crime Network’s Angenette Levy on Twitter, Depp said: “I remember I came home one night from work. I sat on the couch and took my boots off and suddenly Ms Heard approached with this look on her face.

“‘What did you just do?’, I said ‘What do you mean?'”

Depp told the court that Heard said: “No, no, no. That’s my job. You don’t do that.”

He claimed that she was visibly shaken or upset that he had broken her rules of routine, adding: “Once you notice things like that, you notice other things.”

It was claimed that the rules of routine included pouring him a glass of wine before taking off his boots for him, though he did not go into further details regarding other rules.

In court Depp has alleged that the abuse from Ms Heard was “constant” and claimed incidents escalated from “little digs” to “violence” as he alleged she would “hit him, throw wine and TV remotes in his face”.

Depp claimed it got to a point where he would hide in bathrooms to avoid fights.

Heard has claimed that Depp physically assaulted her – an accusation he has denied, stating he has “never hit a woman”.

The trial stems from a complaint Depp filed in 2019 in which he alleges Heard defamed him in an op-ed article she penned for The Washington Post in 2018.

She described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse”, though she did not name him.

He has asked for £38.4million in damages.

Heard has filed a counterclaim, accusing Depp of allegedly orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her.

She has asked for £76.7m in damages and immunity from Depp’s claims.

The trial continues.
