Love Island 2024 winners make history as champions finally confirmed
Love Island is over for another year, and after a tense series of break-ups, make-ups and brutal showdowns, the public have made their choice and the winners have been announced
Love Island fans have had their say and the winning couple is in.
After a tense series of break-ups, make-ups and brutal dumping showdowns, the final four couples got ready to find out the winners. They were Ayo Odukoya and Jessica Spencer, Ciaran Davies and Nicole Samuel, Josh Oyinsan and Mimii Ngulube, and Sean Stone and Matilda Draper.
And as host Maya Jama returned to the villa one final time, she broke the news of the winner. The champs were announced as Mimii and Josh, making them the first black couple to win.
In second place were Ciaran and Nicole. They were ahead of third place Sean and Matilda, and fourth place Ayo and Jess.
Joey Essex and Jessy Potts missed out on a spot in the final by hours, as they were dumped during Sunday night’s episode. Their fate was in the hands of former islanders, who returned to vote for the least compatible couple.
It was certainly a long ride for all four of the final couples. Ciaran and Nicole got together very early on, but trust issues threatened to split them up.
Luckily, Ciaran proved his loyalty to Nicole in Casa Amor and they had been going strong ever since.
“Candy Man” Sean had a tough start, not finding much luck in the romance department. That all changed when Matilda joined the villa, and he beat off Omar Nyama for her affections.
He strayed in Casa Amor, getting to know two girls, but ultimately decided to stick with Matilda.
Ayo and Mimii got together early in the series, but he ditched her for Jess in Casa Amor. Despite weeks of speculation that he was still into Mimii, he made his feelings for Jess clear – even disagreeing with his own brother.
Then, when Josh came in as a late arrival, he headed straight for Mimii. The duo got close quickly, and managed to reach the final, with many fans backing Mimii from the start.
