Dong Trieu town will now become the 5th city under Quang Ninh province from November 1, 2024, along with 4 cities: Mong Cai, Ha Long, Cam Pha and Uong Bi.
On October 8, the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province informed that the Standing Committee of the National Assembly has just issued Resolution No. 1199/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units of Quang Ninh province for the period 2023 – 2025.
Accordingly, the Resolution clearly states the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Dong Trieu town and the establishment of Dong Trieu City, Quang Ninh province. Specifically: Merge the entire Tan Viet commune into Viet Dan commune; Merge Dong Trieu ward into Duc Chinh ward; Establish Binh Duong ward, Thuy An ward, Binh Khe ward, Yen Duc ward on the basis of commune level.
In particular, Dong Trieu City will be established with 19 commune-level administrative units including: 13 wards and 6 communes from November 1, 2024.
For Ba Che district, the Resolution also decided to establish Luong Minh commune on the basis of merging the entire Minh Cam and Luong Mong communes. After the arrangement, Ba Che district has 7 commune-level administrative units including: 6 communes and 1 town.
In Cam Pha City, Hai Hoa commune was established on the basis of merging the entire Cam Hai commune and Cong Hoa commune. After the arrangement, Cam Pha City has 15 commune-level administrative units including: 13 wards and 2 communes.
For Mong Cai City, the entire Hoa Lac ward will be merged into Tran Phu ward. After the arrangement, Mong Cai City will have 16 commune-level administrative units including: 7 wards and 9 communes.
In Ha Long City, the National Assembly Standing Committee resolved to merge the entire Yet Kieu Ward into Tran Hung Dao Ward. After the arrangement, Ha Long City has 32 commune-level administrative units including: 20 wards and 12 communes.
In addition, the Resolution also resolved to establish the People’s Court of Dong Trieu City on the basis of inheriting the People’s Court of Dong Trieu Town and to establish the People’s Procuracy of Dong Trieu City on the basis of inheriting the People’s Procuracy of Dong Trieu Town, Quang Ninh Province.
This Resolution takes effect from November 1, 2024. At this time, Quang Ninh province has 13 district-level units, including 7 districts (Ba Che, Tien Yen, Binh Lieu, Hai Ha, Dam Ha, Co To, Van Don); 1 town (Quang Yen) and 5 cities (Ha Long, Mong Cai, Cam Pha, Uong Bi, Dong Trieu); 171 commune-level administrative units including: 91 communes, 73 wards and 7 towns.
